Reason I love working at Hampshire: Ultimately, I love working at Hampshire because our educational mission and philosophy are things that I wholly, completely, and steadfastly believe in.
Favorite thing about living in the Five College area: For me, the best part of the Pioneer Valley is the accessibility to nature. Hiking, biking, running, skiing, swimming, riding, etc. – it’s all here, and better yet, it’s all close by!
Piece of advice for prospects in the college search process: Take the time to explore your options and find a school that genuinely fits who you are as a student and a person. You have the luxury to pick and choose between innumerable schools to find the one that reflects what is important to you in both education and life – do it!
Piece of advice for applicants: At Hampshire, submitting your SAT scores is optional but many high schools will automatically print your results onto your official transcript. If you decide not to send your SAT scores to Hampshire be sure to communicate that decision to your college counselor so that things don’t pop up on your transcript that you hadn’t intended to share.
Favorite book and why: I read everything. I love Alexander McCall-Smith’s No.1 Ladies Detective Agency series for the way it portrays the simple pleasures of life and people. James Elroy is also a favorite, and Dan Brown’s books were thoroughly enjoyable.
Favorite movie and why: It's not quite a movie, but I am addicted to HBO’s The Wire.
Favorite vacation/travel spot: I’m not very adventurous. When I want to get away I go home.
Favorite way to procrastinate: My horse is my sanity, particularly when I am faced with things that I don’t want to do.
Favorite restaurant in Amherst/Northampton: Thai Garden. I will admit that this is one of a small chain of Thai restaurants in Western Mass., but I am still a fan.
The one thing I want to accomplish in my lifetime: Balance, fulfillment and happiness in whatever form that takes.
Three things I would want with me if I was stranded on a desert island: My dog, Fly; my horse, Dorion; and a flashlight.
