Hampshire alumnus Aaron Weiler spent a year in Namibia with the Bicycling Empowerment Network, designing and building bicycle-powered ambulances. On a return visit to Hampshire, he reflects on his experience and the future of this project.

To graduate, every student, with faculty advice and guidance, devises an individual program in which he or she attempts to ask—and answer— a question perhaps never posed before.

You never know when you’re going to find your calling. For some, it’s a lifelong search. For Zebediah Engberg, it took a few math classes at Hampshire.

Evolutionary Robotics

Isaac Asimov’s stories made Bradford Barr 06F dream of designing robots one day. Hampshire College gave him the chance to actually build one.

Katelin Wilton 05F helped found a youth support group in Zanzibar for children affected by HIV/AIDS.

Vibhu Norby

Vibhu Norby 06S spent a year writing the program Inboxmgr and designing a business plan for the product, which he thinks could revolutionize the way people check their emails.

Josh Weissbach

Josh Weissbach, a 2009 Hampshire graduate, received a prestigious Princess Grace Award to support creation of his Division III film. Weissbach received the 2008 Cary Grant Film Award, an honor awarded to one undergraduate documentary filmmaker each year.

Alana Vehaba

Alana Vehaba 05F explores the relationship between Tibetans born in Tibet before emigrating to India and those born in exile.
