Students will work hands-on with new and ongoing projects at the National Yiddish Book Center, including bibliography, exhibitions, ethnography, oral history, publications, and more.

Participants in the Hampshire College—National Yiddish Book Center Semester in Modern Jewish Culture will enroll as visiting students at Hampshire College. The National Yiddish Book Center will provide a gathering space and group activities including a seminar and special events.

All academic credit will be awarded through Hampshire College.

Applications will be considered from undergraduate students with at least 30 transferable semester credits of college work. Prior knowledge of Hebrew and Yiddish is helpful but not required.

The Semester in Modern Jewish Culture program runs from late January through early May, 2011. The application deadline is November 15, 2010. All materials must be received by this date.
