Hampshire Forum 2012:
A Division IV Program about Social Change

June 8-10, 2012

“To know is not enough.” The integration of education and social change activism has a long, rich, and exciting history at Hampshire College. Even after graduation, our alums continue to make positive change in the world in myriad ways.

Now, with our new President and within the context of world-changing social activism, we celebrate “Non satis scire” and share insights, resources, and perspectives while looking ahead to what is needed to move forward as a society.

Reunion Celebrations
There will be a party to commemorate the 40th reunion class of 1972 and one for the 25th reunion class of 1987. Would you like to help plan a reunion party for your class?

Panels and Discussions
Join in hands-on workshops and provocative discussions led by panels of experts; enjoy films and exhibits; and get involved as we consider the following questions, among others:

  • What do you think of when you think of social change?
  • How will Hampshire College produce the next generation of leaders in social activism?
  • What has been accomplished and what is needed in some of the areas in which Hampshire faculty, students, and alums have addressed inequality, discrimination, and the invisible barriers surrounding:
    • race and diversity
    • gender, sex, and feminisms
    • education and activism
    • socially responsible investment and entrepreneurship
    • environmental sustainability and energy use
    • human rights and justice
  • How has Hampshire’s on-campus activism reflected and addressed issues in the world at large?
