Advising Guide for Faculty

Advisors play a vital part in the lives of our students, and good advising is essential to the success of the college. It’s not an easy job. Advising requires strong interpersonal skills, a deep base of knowledge about the college’s curriculum, and easy familiarity with a lot of procedural detail. This website is designed to provide in one handy place a collection of useful information and perspectives about Hampshire’s educational program and your role in it as an advisor. We hope it will help you get a better sense of what the college is about, and how best to serve our students. And, please, let us know how to improve it.

Much of what is in this website provides links to the Hampshire College policy booklet, Non Satis Non Scire (known as NSNS). These references will give you much valuable information and will answer many of your questions. We also provide a reference guide to resources on campus for various issues and questions.
