Course Registration

This page contains general information about course registration. Check the links on the left for more information on policies and procedures or a particular registration period.

During any registration period check your Hampshire College email every day for new information on course registration and especially if you are on course waiting lists.

WAITLISTS
We have an automatic notification system to assist students in registering for courses if they are waitlisted. If you are on a waitlist for a course, you will be notified by email when a space becomes available. You must register yourself on TheHub within 24 hours of the time the email was sent out. If you do not register during that time period, your name will be dropped from the waitlist and the next person will be offered the opportunity to register.
Make sure to attend courses that you are on the waitlist for, as faculty will not write evaluations for students who have missed too many classes.

SCHEDULES
Periodically, students should view their course schedules on TheHub to ensure that all is correct. This should be done several times during the semester and any time you make a change. Each student is responsible for the accuracy of his or her course schedule and for making changes by the appropriate deadlines.

TIME CONFLICTS
TheHub will not allow students to register for two courses that create time conflicts. Occasionally, students and faculty make special arrangements to accommodate minor time conflicts. If you bring in an agreement signed by both instructors to central records, we will register you for the courses.

Note about arranging your schedule
If you are registered for a class, but would like to "shop around" to check out another class, talk with the professor of the class for which you registered. If you do not make a prior arrangement with the instructor, you could jeopardize your ability to receive an evaluation for the course, as faculty will not write evaluations for students who have missed too many classes. Faculty need to be able to determine how many spaces they have available for other students and may just assume you intend to drop the course if you do not communicate with them about your absence.

If you are having technical difficulty with TheHub, please contact Administrative Systems at extension 5718 during normal business hours or email thehub@hampshire.edu. Please feel free to use the email address anytime - they will monitor it throughout the evening whenever possible. If you have questions regarding policy, please contact Central Records at extension 5421.
