Back from that Vacation Yet?

OK, so we've beaten you over the head with the whole "set up your out-of-office phone and email messages" thing. We're thinking maybe too much of a good thing, and want to make sure you turn them off when you return!

When you set up your email and phone messages before going on vacation, how about setting up a reminder to turn them off when you return from vacation?

A couple of tricks we use might help you out:

  • Put a reminder on your calendar on your first day back from vacation.
  • Put a sticky note on your phone and computer with a reminder to turn off your out-of-office message.

If you're like us and find that it takes a while to get yourself back into the swing of things after a vacation, try using both methods and one of them is sure to jog your memory.

And if you've recently returned from vacation and are having an "aha!" moment as you read, how about turning off those messages right now?

  • Dial 6901 on campus (559.6900 off-campus), and follow the prompts to turn of the extended absence greeting.
  • Now go to https://intranet.hampshire.edu/mail and turn off the vacation message.
