Guidelines for Teaching Circles

What are the participant responsibilities?
Teaching Circle participants will receive a stipend after completing the following:

• Assist in developing the circle’s goal(s) (group and/or individual goals) and activities
• Attend the scheduled circle meetings
• Time commitment will vary, but it is expected that each participant will commit approximately 15-20 hours to individual and group work
• Share your Teaching Circle experiences and work with others through a Talking about Teaching session
• Participate in a circle celebration
• Complete a Teaching Circle report in which you document and reflect on at least one new or revised strategy that you’ve implemented in your teaching/mentoring as a result of the teaching circle discussions. (Summaries will be compiled by the circle facilitator and shared with faculty in a notebook for the CTL library)

The facilitator will attend an initial organizing meeting, stay in touch with the CTL leaders, and compile the final report. For this work, the facilitator will receive an additional stipend.

What are the group responsibilities?

• Submit a teaching circle proposal
• Submit a brief final report that is a compilation of everyone’s experience
