Coordinator for Multicultural Academic Support
The director of Multicultural and International Student Services, Melissa Scheid Frantz, also serves as the coordinator for Multicultural Academic Support. She is a point person and liaison for students of color and international students for the sharing of concerns and ideas regarding multiculturalism and diversity in academic life. Additionally, Melissa Scheid Frantz acts as a liaison to faculty, the five schools, and academic support centers; helps identify practices to prepare students and faculty to engage with diversity, power, and privilege in the classroom; and assists with developing programs and resources that foster academic success among international students and students of color. Melissa Scheid Frantz works closely with the Office for Diversity and Multicultural Education.
Students are encouraged to meet with Melissa Scheid Frantz with any questions, concerns, or ideas. Set up an appointment during office hours or suggest another meeting time that would work better: mscheidfrantz@hampshire.edu; 559.5415; 2nd floor of the Lebron-Wiggins-Pran Cultural Center.
Academic Check-Ins
Held at least twice a semester with the director of Multicultural and International Student Services, Melissa Scheid Frantz, and special presidential assistant for diversity and multicultural education, Jaime Davila. The academic check-Ins serve to help students share challenges with classes; help students regain focus and motivation; and to seek problem-solving from peers, staff, and faculty.
Study Nights at the Cultural Center
The campus community is encouraged to stop by the Cultural Center during scheduled study nights to work in a quiet, wireless environment. Students can also stop by during non-scheduled study night times to study if there are no meetings held in the space.

SCIENCES Network
The SCIENCES Network, for students of color and international students who are interested in and/or concentrating in Natural Science or Cognitive Science, provides academic and professional resources. Cultural Center Academic Advisory Group (CCAAG)
CCAAG’s mission is to increase communication and collaboration between the faculty of each school and the Cultural Center to address effectively the academic concerns and needs of students of color and international students. Objectives include discussing student priorities and planning follow-up initiatives; increasing participation of students of color and international students in each of the schools; and expanding the support network of faculty/staff resources for this population.
Current representation:
The CCAAG representatives would like all students of color and international students to see them as an additional resource among the faculty/schools if students have any questions with which they can assist.
