DART Courses

DART courses aim to serve as a catalyst for cross-school collaboration. They begin when two faculty members from diverse disciplines design a one-month intensive course that explores the creative process at the intersections of design, art, and technology.

Held each year over the course of January term, DART courses give up to ten Division II students the opportunity to work together with faculty in the development of a single, large-scale artistic work.

COMING IN JANUARY 2011...
Peter Kallok (professor of theater design) and Larry Winship (professor of botany) will join their scientific and artistic interests to lead students in an exploration of the interplay between natural and artificial light. This course will culminate in the creation of a large-scale artistic work.

Design, Art, and Technology: Creating an Empathetic Space

Over the course of the January term students will explore the cognitive and social relationships we build in the utilitarian spaces of everyday life by reimagining our personal connections to place. Using a variety of interactive arts technologies, students will work as a group with the faculty to transform a space on the campus into an interactive, empathetic environment.

Experience The Empathetic Space.
