Interviews are an important part of Hampshire's admission process, and are strongly recommended for prospective students. An interview is an opportunity to ask questions about specific areas of academic and social life, and also provides a chance for students to describe experiences or qualities they have that make them well-suited to Hampshire's distinctive program, or to explain circumstances that might affect the review of the application. Interviews are conducted on campus by members of the admissions counseling staff and highly-trained, advanced-level students. Interviews are also conducted off campus by admissions counselors and trained alum volunteers. All interviews "count" the same in the application process.
Interviews are available on weekdays in the admissions office. To request an interview, please call the admissions office. On-campus interviews should be completed by the application deadline for the plan you use.
Counselors travel in the fall and offer off-campus interviews in cities around the United States and abroad. To find out if a counselor is coming to your area and has interviews available, please visit our Hampshire on the Road page and click on your state or region.
Alumni interviews are conducted by trained volunteer Hampshire graduates. These interviews are available from September through January. Please request an alumni interview at least two weeks prior to your application deadline. Please do not request an alumni interview if you have already had or scheduled an interview on-campus or with a counselor. Request an alumni interview here.
