Hampshire now has a system of online teaching assessmants. At the end of each semester all students are asked to complete assessments; please see below. All responses are anonymous, and nothing is given to faculty members until after they have submitted all students' grades and narrative evaluations. If you have questions about any aspect of this process, please contact Carol Trosset, director of institutional research.
HAMPSHIRE COLLEGE STUDENTS:
Please fill out teaching assessments on The Hub. These are available under TheHub's Courses--Current Semester menu.
AMHERST COLLEGE, MOUNT HOLYOKE COLLEGE, AND SMITH COLLEGE STUDENTS:
Please log in on the teaching assessment page and choose your home college from the dropdown menu; enter your login and the course information, and complete the assessment. Do this for each course you are taking at Hampshire College.
UNIVERSITY OF MASSACHUSETTS STUDENTS:
Please download the form (available here, as a Word document, RTF, or PDF), fill it out, and return it by email to ir@hampshire.edu or by campus mail to Institutional Research, Hampshire College. If you are taking more than one Hampshire course during a semester, please complete a copy of the teaching assessment form for each course.
FACULTY
To prepare for teaching assessments, go to TheHub and follow this path: Academic Records/Evaluations> Instructor - Current Semester> Course Objectives Evaluation. This component of the assessments is most useful if only a few objectives in each course are described as "Essential." Select your objectives for each course.
Teaching assessment data is returned to instructors in two parts:
Students' comments are available via The Hub. You can access this information via the following path: Academic Records/Evaluations > Instructor - Prior Semesters > View Student Course Evaluations. Note that not every course received comments, so if you don't see any, it's because none were entered.
