Language, Mind, and Culture

Hampshire College is pleased to announce an Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship with a focus on Language, Mind, and Culture.

Fields:
Scholars with a background in linguistics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, or neurolinguistics are encouraged to apply.

Overview:
Candidates' research interests must involve a language or languages other than English, and those who demonstrate strong competence in a least one language other than English will be given priority consideration. An interest in using multiple languages to engage undergraduates in the language sciences is essential. The successful candidate will be housed in Hampshire’s School of Cognitive Science.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop research collaborations with the cognitive science faculty at Hampshire, as well as with faculty in the other institutions of the Five-College consortium (the University of Massachusetts, and Amherst, Mount Holyoke, and Smith Colleges). Hampshire offers a congenial teaching environment that features small classes and freedom for instructors to develop their own courses.

Result:
The successful candidate for the position will present a strong combination of research and teaching promise and an ability to engage students with languages other than English.
