Jana Silver
Jana Silver, visiting assistant professor of art, teaches courses in art education and arts integration. She is a certified K-12 art teacher who has been teaching art for over 25 years to children and adults locally and internationally. Jana has her MFA in ceramics and studied ceramics in West Africa through Parsons School of Design. Her ceramic art has been sold and exhibited nationwide. She was the founder and former Executive Director of a non-profit arts organization in Amherst MA. Along with her teaching at Hampshire, Jana is a Doctoral Candidate in the School of Education at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in the department of Teacher Education. Her research focuses on elementary school general education teacher practices concerning the integration of art into the academic curriculum in the United States and Japan. Jana also works with Hampshire and Mount Holyoke College Teacher Licensure Programs as the supervisor to art education licensure students.
