Graduate Research Grants & Fellowships

The Fulbright Program
The U.S. State Department sponsors the annual Fulbright Program, providing annual grants for students (graduating seniors, recent grads, and graduate students) to study and research in more than 150 countries. For more information please see Hampshire College's Fulbright administrator: Vanessa Paulman, vpaulman@hampshire.edu

Whitaker Awards
Whitaker International Fellows must have a B.S. or M.S. degree in biomedical engineering (or bioengineering, which is considered here synonymous if the program emphasizes biomedical engineering), and they will not have a doctorate at the time they start the grant.

Central Europe Summer Research Institute (CESRI) Fellowship
U.S. graduate students in biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, environmental science, and mathematics are encouraged to apply. Sponsored by the National Science Foundation and managed by the Institute of International Education, CESRI is a fellowship opportunity for U.S. graduate students in science and engineering who are seeking a quality hands-on international research experience in Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Poland, or Slovakia.

The American Scandinavian Foundation (ASF)
Fellowships (up to $20,000) and grants (normally $4,000) for advanced study or research in one or more Scandinavian countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden) for up to one year. Awards are made in all fields.
