Five College Risk Management
All students studying abroad should visit the Five College Risk Management website at https://www.fivecolleges.edu/riskmgmt/intltravel. Here you will find important resources and information health insurance, travel assistance services, AIG/Travel Guard program benefits, and additional safety information while traveling overseas. 

Web Resources for Health and Safety 

Safety Abroad Handbook (The Center for Global Education)
This handbook provides invaluable information regarding basic health recommendations; safety strategies to reduce risk; crisis management; cultural adjustment; and special concerns regarding nationality, race, sexuality, and disability while traveling abroad. 

U.S. Department of State Travel Information
Provides travel warnings and "Consular Information Sheets" (basic historical and political summaries of each country) with updated information and status reports on country-specific situations. Also furnishes tips for traveling abroad and information on emergency services for U.S. citizens abroad.

U.S. Embassies and Consulates
Register with the U.S. embassy or consulate in the destination country. In addition, carry a photocopy of your passport and visa, packed in a separate location from your actual passport. This proves invaluable in replacing your passport if it is lost or stolen.

Centers for Disease Control
Contains information by geographic area for health, immunizations, current conditions, and precautions.

World Health Organization
Provides leadership on global health matters and includes information regarding H1N1 and other important health issues.

For vaccine information, health risks, finding local travel clinics for pre-departure information, tips for protecting yourself from food- and water-borne diseases, and more.
