Previous International Scholars

2007-2008 ACADEMIC YEAR

Scholars from Hefei, China 

Mr. Yongcheng Yang is a research fellow in linguistics at the Anhui Academy of Social Science (AASS) and teaches part time at Anhui University. He spent a semester at Hampshire College in 1998 and has taught Hampshire students here and in China. During the 2007-08 academic year he was the leading Chinese Language teacher for our intensive elementary Chinese language class.

Mr. Yan Lu is a teacher in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Anhui Agricultural University (AAU). He assisted teaching the elementary Chinese language class and provided tutoring to students who took other levels of Chinese language.

Ms. Yanyan Chen is an English language teacher in the School of Foreign Languages at AAU. She was seeking professional advancement here through auditing courses, while helping tutor Hampshire students in the Chinese language. 


Fulbright Scholars

Bouchra Lif is an Arabic/Moroccan Language Mentor from Casablanca, Morocco. She received her B.A. in English literature from Hassan II University. Bouchra will return to Morocco to pursue her master’s degree and teach high school English.

Fahima Shuja from New Dehli, India received her B.A. and M.A.degrees in English literature from Jamia Millia Islamia in New Delhi. She is working as a Hindi Language Mentor. Fahima will return to India to continue her career as an English teacher.

Happy Charles Kikwa received her B.A. in English and Kiswahili from Dar es Salaam University in Tanzania. She is working as a Swahili Language Mentor. Happy will return to Dar es Salaam to pursue her teaching career.

Maryam Tabatebaei from Isfahan, Iran is working as a Persian Language Mentor. She received her M.A. in economics from Isfahan University. She has worked as a private teacher in Iran and will pursue her Ph.D. in Economics.

El-Abed Elraqubi is an Arabic Language Mentor from Sabha Fezzan, Libya. He received his B.A. in English from Libya’s Higher Institute Teachers. He will return to Libya to continue teaching high-school English for the Ministry of Education.

Ghasem Golshan Arani received his B.A. in English/Persian translation from Kashan University and has completed work towards an M.A. in linguistics at Tehran University. He has worked as a translator and interpreter. Ghasem is a Persian Language Mentor.
