Andrew Ross is a prolific writer, scholar, and activist who has recently been at the center of Occupy organization around the issue of student debt and the financing of education. A long-time member of the influential Social Text collective and an organizer in the academic labor movement, Ross’s work has moved from earlier work in American Studies, focusing on Modernist Poetry to the study of work, culture, urban ethnography, and ecology. His recent books include Real Love: In Pursuit of Cultural Justice; Nice Work If You Can Get It; and Bird on Fire: Lessons from the World’s Least Sustainable City.
