Dakin/Merrill House Office
The Dakin/Merrill House office is the hub of both the dorms: here, students can find vacuums and cleaning supplies, kitchen supplies, snacks and treats, safe sex supplies, and board games.

The House Director
The house director and operations assistant are available to answer questions, give advice, and help with whatever issues might arise. View list of all house staff >>

Floors and Sections:
There are seven sections of Dakin, and three to four floors, depending on how close to SAGA (the dining commons) you get. The sections are as follows: D, E, F, G, H, J, K.
D, E, F, and G have four floors and are closer to the Dakin parking lot and the house office.

H, J, and K only have three floors and are closer to SAGA and Merrill.

All floors and sections are co-ed unless otherwise stated. Every floor has a lounge consisting of a fridge, a TV with cable, two couches, and a few coffee tables (also, J1, K1, and all sections floors 2 - 4 have balconies).

Every floor also has their own bathroom. It has a sink for washing dishes and the like, two regular sinks, a large mirror, two toilets, and two showers.

Dakin Rooms:
With the exception of J basement, there are 11 dorm rooms on a floor. D, F, H, and K have 10 rooms to a floor including two corner rooms, and E, G, and J have 11 rooms including one double. The average single in Dakin is about 8ft by 10ft (so if you plan on mapping out your room on paper, just use an 8x11 piece of paper and you're basically good to go), and comes with a dresser, mirror, divided closet (all mounted to the wall/floor), movable bed, desk, and a recycling bin.

In terms of J basement, none of these rules apply. There are three rooms: two small doubles and one large single. The single is about 10ft by 12ft, and the two doubles are smaller than typical doubles.

The Basement:
H-J: Housing Director apartment, J basement dorms
K: Laundry room, commuter student lounge, closer entrance to SAGA

Dorm Numbering:
Example: J207
J = Section
2 = Floor
07 = Room

Sections:
D, E, F, G, H, J, K
Floors:
(D, E, F, G) 1 - 4;
(J) B - 3;
(H, K) 1 - 3

Keys:
Every Dakin resident receives two keys--one to their dorm room, and one that unlocks their respective lounge door. The lounge key opens only the lounge on your hall. The main entrances can only be accessed with your ID card.
