Storage Policy
There are many commercial storage facilities in the area that provide secure storage at reasonable rates. We strongly recommend that you store your things off campus.
Although Hampshire College provides limited space for students to store items over the summer and/or during the academic year, the college assumes no liability. Students use storage spaces at their own risk of theft, water or fire damage or any other type of loss.
All stored items must be in boxes, labeled with student’s name and date of deposit. Students who are moving into Dakin, Merrill or Prescott for the coming academic year may store items in their new housing area over the summer.
Only boxes and mini-fridges may be stored; no furniture, computers, or bicycles will be allowed in storage areas.
The following rules apply for all storage areas
Students must remove items from storage upon their graduation or withdrawal from the college. Items left beyond the student’s separation date will be discarded at the discretion of house staff.
Special Note regarding storage areas in Greenwich and Enfield mods.
Greenwich and Enfield have no free standing storage rooms and we strongly discourage students from storing items inside these mods. However, if you decide to leave items in Greenwich or Enfield mods over the summer, these rules apply: Only current residents, who expect to live in the same mod the following year, may store items in GE mod storage over the summer. Any items not belonging to current residents may be discarded, after notifying house staff, during the first week of the academic year.
Students who won a Greenwich or Enfield mod during the lottery may arrange to put their things in storage in Dakin or Merrill over the summer.
