RESNA Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America's purpose is to improve the potential of people with disabilities to achieve their goals through the use of technology.

Trace Research and Development Center A research center at the University of Wisconsin. Their goal is to make standard technology and systems like computers, the Internet, and information kiosks more accessible for everyone through universal/accessible design. This website also includes a database called Abledata, which lists over 25,000 assistive technology products, including price and manufacturer, as well as noncommercial prototypes, customized products and do-it-yourself designs.

BBC Ouch Disability Magazine Weblog A blog for people of varying disabilities to discuss physical and social issues related to disability.

The Center for Universal Design at North Carolina State University is a national research, information, and technology assistance center that evaluates, develops and promotes universal design in housing, public and commercial facilities, and related products. This website includes listings of books, videos, information packs, consumer product guides and journal articles all related to universal design.

Anvils Ring Artist-Blacksmith’s Association of North America’s primary publication, mailed quarterly to members, filled with sixty-four pages of interesting articles, tips, historical notes, photos of members' work, supplier ads, book reviews, and event information.

Home Shop Machinist Bimonthly. Besides numerous regular columns, readers' forum, and advertisements, about 6 articles per issue, covering machine tools reviewed for the hobbyist, general machining tips and techniques, and projects. Projects typically run over several issues and include detailed drawings and instructions and photographs on how to build an XYZ. Typical projects could be a model steam engine, a clock, etc.

Practical Welding Bimonthly magazine created to fill a void in the industry for hands-on information, real-world applications, and down-to-earth advice for welders.

American Solar Energy Society A non-profit organization dedicated to increasing the use of solar energy, energy efficiency, and other sustainable technologies in the U.S.

Center for Ecological Technology For more than 30 years, CET has provided residents, businesses, and communities with the tools to make it easy and affordable to carry out daily life in a more environmentally sustainable manner. Their work focuses on energy efficiency, renewable energy, waste management, and environmental education.

Renewable Energy Research Laboratory Located at the University of Massachusetts/Amherst, the RERL promotes education and research in renewable energy technologies. RERL focuses chiefly on wind energy in New England, including offshore wind power issues, resource assessment, renewable energy software development, hybrid power systems, wind turbine dynamics and control, and wind farm siting and performance.

The American Wind Energy Association Promotes wind power growth through advocacy, communication, and education.

National Center for Appropriate Technology An organization that helps people and communities adopt technologies that save energy and resources.

KickStart is a non-profit organization that develops and markets new appropriate technologies in Africa to kick-start economic growth.

Campus Center for Appropriate Technology at Humboldt State University. The mission of CCAT is to demonstrate appropriate technology in a residential setting; to provide hands-on experiential learning opportunities to Humboldt State University and the surrounding community; to collect and disseminate information about appropriate technology; to examine the ethical and social consequences of technology; and to dispel the myth that living lightly on the earth is difficult or burdensome. CCAT is dedicated to sustainability and seeks to help others live likewise.

Aprovecho Research Center is a non-profit organization whose purpose is "To research, develop, and disseminate technological solutions for meeting the basic human needs of low income and impoverished people and communities in third world countries, in order to help relieve their suffering, improve their health, enhance their safety, and reduce their adverse impacts on their environment." Their website is a good source of information on efficient cookstoves.
