  • NYPL Picture Collection Covers African Americans, American history, costumes, fashion drawings, dragons, animals, and other subjects, dating from the 1700s through the 1st quarter of the 20th century.
  • Media and Communications Site A rich collection of links to studies in media/communications, organized by topic (e.g. gender, pop music, visual images, etc.) from the University of Aberystwyth in Wales.
  • UbuWeb is a large public domain Web-based educational resource for avant-garde material available on the internet, founded in 1996 by poet Kenneth Goldsmith. It offers visual, concrete, and sound poetry, and a remarkable archive of experimental film and music. This link goes to the list of filmmakers whose work is available.
  • Cultural Studies More general links to the many subfields of cultural studies.
  • QueerTheory Queer studies, gender studies, and related fields. Offers links to news, essays, books.
  • Ad*Access Presents images and database information for over 7,000 advertisements printed in U.S. and Canadian newspapers and magazines between 1911 and 1955. Concentrates on five main subject areas: radio, television, transportation, beauty and hygiene, and World War II.
  • Border Crossings Links to sites relating to the various borders (social, political, geographic, sexual, etc.) that demarcate the postmodern imagination.
  • Contemporary postcolonial and postimperial literature in English An introduction to about 100 contemporary postcolonial authors. Geographical and historical background, individual author biographies, and analysis. A work in progress, but a very useful resource.
  • Emergence of Advertising in America, 1850-1920 A database of over 9,000 images which represents a unique collection of advertising history and a significant contribution to the study of American culture. A complement to Ad*Access, listed above.
  • Everything Postmodern A good clearinghouse of links maintained by a graduate student at Arizona State.
  • Contemporary Philosophy, Critical Theory, and Postmodern Thought A good collection of resources and links for critical theory and postmodern thought and for important comtemporary philosophers. From the University of Colorado, Denver.
  • Resource Center for Cybercultural Studies Offers Web links, interviews, bibliographies, conferences, etc.
  • Masters of Cinema Links to articles and Web sites of noted international directors and cinemas.
