  • American Variety Stage: Vaudeville and Popular Entertainment 1870-1920. Play scripts, motion pictures (including several dance films), and sound recordings. A bonanza of popular entertainment from 1870 to 1920. From the Library of Congress' American Memory collection.
  • Artslynx International Theatre Resources A meta site linking dozens of topics in theatre to resources on the web. Take a look at children's theatre.
  • BBC Radio Four Broadcasts a radio play each week.  
  • Bibliomania The full text of many classic plays are available to read online. Try this for Shakespeare and other European classics.
  • Didaskalia: Ancient Theatre Today A good jumping-off point if you are interested in ancient drama and its modern production.
  • Doollee Good website for beginning research on contemporary American playwrights.
  • EServer Drama and Theatre A collection of plays, screenplays, and criticism in full text. From Iowa State University.
  • FINDaPLAY.com A free service by Playscripts, Inc.that enables you to locate the publisher or agent for a playwright or play.
  • Inter-Play: an On-line Index to Plays in Collections, Anthologies, and Periodicals Quick access to the location of plays in anthologies.   • Internet Broadway Database Extensive database for Broadway theater information (credits, shows, and dates).
  • Mercury Theatre on the Air Radio broadcasts and an amazing history resource on the early work of Orson Welles.
  • Mr. William Shakespeare and the Internet An annotated guide to scholarly Shakespeare resources on the Internet. Includes full text of his work!
  • New Deal Stage Primary source documents of theatrical productions sponsored by the Federal Theatre Project, Works Progress Administration, from 1935 to 1939.
  • Playbill Covers news, tickets, casting, and jobs; and contacts in the theatre world.
  • Theatre Communication Group National network of theatre professionals and non-profit theatres that publishes plays, play collections, etc. and the monthly American Theatre Magazine (which is available at Hamsphire in print and online). 
  • Theatre poster art (mostly Broadway)
  • The Playwriting Seminars A practical guide to playwriting and the conventions of a play typically sought by regional theatre companies.
