  • PAIS International with Archive Public Affairs Information Service contains references to more than 553,300 journal articles, books, government documents, statistical directories, grey literature, research reports, conference reports, publications of international agencies, microfiche, Internet material, and more. The PAIS Archive provides retrospective coverage of the PAIS Annual Cumulated Bulletin.

  • After Sept 11: Perspectives from the Social Sciences Collection of essays and curricular suggestions.
  • Africa South of the Sahara A directory of information on all aspects of life in Africa south of the Sahara. Includes a directory for countries and topics and a search engine for what they call "search the African pages."
  • Amnesty International Keep informed on Amnesty International's activities and positions on countries and policies throughout the world.
  • Country Studies
  • Fourth World Documentation Project (FWDP) Provides access to Fourth World documents and resources through an online library of texts that record and preserve indigenous peoples' struggles to regain their rightful place in the international community. Sponsored by the Center for World Indigenous Studies.
  • The Guardian Unlimited world news guide. Provides links to international newspapers.
  • Holt Labor Library for Labor Studies and Radical History Includes their library catalog, links to other labor sources, and a monthly feature with has full text, graphics, and links on topics related to class struggles in the advanced industrialized world in the 19th and 20th centuries.
  • Human Rights Library A directory of links to documents and organizations concerned with human rights. Includes treaties, United Nations documents, bibliographies, and resources for referees. Maintained by the University of Minnesota Human Rights Center.
  • Opensecrets.org A web site dedicated to tracing political money. If you want to know who is giving to whom and why this is the place to look.
  • Polling Report Although this is a commercial site, it provides quick and up-to-date polling information about current issues. Very strong United States bias.
  • Poverty-related links A directory of sources in the study of poverty. Predominately United States organizations. The links are accessible both by a alphabetical list and by categories. Provided by the Institute for Research on Poverty at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
  • Public Agenda Provides information about public opinion and policy analyses on a number of topics including abortion, America's global role, crime, the Federal budget, race, and right to die. The site also includes pie charts, links, and text on a myriad of other current issues.
  • Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture Provided by the New York Public Library, this is a national research library devoted to collecting, preserving, and providing access to resources documenting the experiences of peoples of African descent throughout the world.
  • The Ultimate Political Science Links A directory of everything political science with the usual limitations.
  • United Nations Documentation : Research Guide A good place to start for the novice trying to understand UN documents, how they are organized, and how to get them.
  • World Bank "Provides information on health, education, the environment, private sector development, poverty, urban development, gender, and economic reform issues. Includes factual data on the countries that are assisted by the World Bank. Of particular usefulness is the searchable WDS database of the 6,000 plus World Bank publications, select full-text reports, and learning resources for teachers and students." (review from the Librarians' Index to the Internet).
  • The WWW Virtual Library: International Affairs Resources A directory of everything international in the news and political arena, with the usual limitations.
