Websites For Sociology

  • America's children: A collection of multidimensional data on children collected by the United States Government.
  • Data and Program Library Service at the University of Wisconsin: Founded in 1966 to provide access to machine-readable data files for the social science community.
  • Dead Sociologists Index: Includes pictures, biographies, and works by some of the most famous sociologists. While it's not comprehensive in its coverage, it is a wonderful place to start in the study of individual sociologists and the schools they began.
  • Poverty-related links: A directory of sources in the study of poverty. Predominantly United States organizations. The links are accessible by an alphabetical list and by categories. Provided by the Institute for Research on Poverty at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
  • Sourcebook of Criminal Justice Statistics: Data on all aspects of criminal justice in the United States, presented in over 600 tables from more than 100 sources. Available in print at Amherst, Mount Holyoke, and Smith Colleges (see online library catalog for more information).
