  • International Bibliographic Information on Dietary Supplements (IBIDS) The International Bibliographic Information on Dietary Supplements (IBIDS) database provides access to bibliographic citations and abstracts from published international and scientific literature on dietary supplements. IBIDS is a collaboration between two US government agencies: the Office of Dietary Supplements of the National Institutes of Health, and the Food and Nutrition Information Center (FNIC) of the United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) National Agricultural Library (NAL).

  • PubMed The major index to medicine, animal and human.
  • ScienceDirect College Edition A full-text database for journals in the life, medical, social, behavioral, and physical sciences.
  • JSTOR (Journal Storage) Scholarly articles in over 150 academic journals. Articles date from the 1800s up to a "moving wall" of between one and eight years before the present. That means that there are no current articles. Coverage includes the arts, business, general science, the humanities, and social science.

  • BugBios: Shameless Promotion of Insect Appreciation Especially useful for the digital photographic images.
  • EarthTrends: The Environmental Information Portal See Agriculture and Food section. International scope. Site includes tables, maps, and excellent links.
  • Eden: Sustainability Sourcebook A collection of wisdom about sustainability including permaculture, natural building, simple lifestyles, alternative energy, and sustainable agriculture. This is a work-in-progress and results are not consistent.
  • European Conservation Agriculture Federation (ECAF) Soil conservation publications, information, and organizations representing the majority of the European Union’s cropped farmland.
  • Farmland Information Center A clearinghouse of statistics, laws, literature, and technical resources related to farmland protection and stewardship. Produced by American Farmland Trust.
  • Global Crop Pests: Identification and Information Covers pest recognition and scouting, ecology, biology, and control strategies. Identifies pest problems and recommends IPM practices for their control. The information and images can be printed or downloaded. Produced by Cornell University.
  • International Livestock Research Institute Livestock research in developing countries.
  • International Soil and Reference Information Centre (ISRIC) A foundation for publishing, training, and research regarding soils of the world. Provides a variety of profiles, data sets, educational materials, and links to related sites.
  • MassGIS - Soils General and county-specific information compiled by a variety of government agencies.
  • National Agroforestry Center USDA information on combining agriculture and forestry technologies to create more integrated, diverse, productive, profitable, healthy, and sustainable land-use systems. Includes many full-text publications.
  • Organic Europe An overview of organic farming in 25 European countries. Includes publications and a directory of more than 5000 organizations.
  • Plants for a Future: Species Database Contains detailed information for more than 7,000 plants, all of which are either edible, medicinal, or are used for fibers, oils, or soaps. Includes information on the environmental and cultivation requirements of each plant. Searches may be limited to North America. Produced by University of Leeds, England.
  • Soils Classifications, descriptions, surveys, and a glossary are among the many resources offered through this site. Includes international links. Compiled and maintained by Natural Resources Conservation Services.
  • USDA Economics, Statistics, and Market Information System Reports and datasets covering areas such as field crops, rural affairs, trade issues, conservation, specialty agriculture, livestock, and baseline projections.
    • Community Involved in Supporting Agriculture (CISA) A non-profit organization dedicated to sustaining agriculture in western Massachusetts and promoting the products of small farms. Community development is fostering through long-term mutually beneficial relationships between farmers and consumers. CISA offers programs, special events, marketing products, and workshops.
    • New England Small Farm Institute (NESFI) A private non-profit organization supporting new farmers and sustainable small-scale agriculture throughout New England. They provide tours, workshops, training, and an extensive library collection at their Belchertown, MA location.
    • North East Workers on Organic Farms (NEWOOF) Farm Apprenticeship Placement Service. The online list is updated annually and contains more than 70 regional farms from which to choose.
