How to Request an Article
First use the Full Text Article Finder to see if you have online access to the full text of the journal article through the library databases to which we subscribe. If you don't have an exact citation, you can click on "journal" on the Full Text Article Finder screen. Be sure to change the box that says "contains" to BEGINS WITH or EXACT MATCH. If you do not find the article online and full text, do a Journal Title search in the Five College catalog to see if one of the colleges has a subcription (print or online) to the journal. If Hampshire has a print copy, get the correct issue of the journal in the stacks.
If the Five College Depository has it, use the Depository Article Request Form to get a copy (you will need the Depository call number to put in the request.) If one of the other colleges has it, use the Article Request form to request that a copy of the article be sent to your mailbox. If none of the colleges has the journal or the issue you need, again use the Article Request form to request that a copy of the article be sent to your mailbox. We can request it from other libraries around the country that own it. The first time you use the service you will need to register for it, using your name and the seven-digit Hampshire ID number from the front of your ID card, and fill out a user profile. Then choose whether you want to request a book or journal article, and type in all the information you have about it. Interlibrary loan can take up to three weeks, so plan ahead! We will send the photocopied article to you in campus mail.
Who can use interlibrary loan?
Interlibrary loan is available to currently enrolled Hampshire students as well as faculty and staff. Students on leave do not have access to interlibrary loan.
