Oscillating Bodies: Division III Dance Improvisation Happening with Scores

This community-in-motion performance was held April 28 and 29, 2009.

Using dance improvisation and movement games Oscillating Bodies generated a palpable embodied sensitivity and awareness of group, self, and environment. Performance of a repertoire of scores such as The Witness Line, Spiral, Spatial Mapping, and Flocking offered opportunities to actively interrupt usual conventions of space, opening moments to re-imagine possible ways in which we as humans may be in relation to one another. The evening showed how dance improvisation develops a state of active oscillation between action and reflection, which can be carried into our daily understanding and serve to actively educate ourselves about ourselves and one another.
