Professor Michael Klare in ABC's 'Earth 2100'

Professor Michael Klare Among Experts in ABC News Special Earth 2100
Tuesday, June 2, at 9 p.m. (ET)

Hampshire College’s Michael Klare, professor of peace and world security studies, was among international experts invited to share their views on the future of the planet when ABC News aired a two-hour special television event, Earth 2100, on Tuesday, June 2, at 9 p.m. (eastern time).

Future climate and resource wars were the topics Professor Klare spoke of as the program explored how our planet is at risk. Earth 2100 responds to stark warnings from leading scientists: population growth, dwindling resources, and climate change have the potential to converge in the next century with catastrophic results. Can we as a species learn to alter our behavior in time or will we fight for the resources that are left and then perish?

Dr. Klare is the author of 13 books on geopolitical topics, including Resource Wars (2001), Blood and Oil (2004), and Rising Powers, Shrinking Planet (2008). His book in progress, with the working title The Race for What’s Left, will focus on the struggle over the world’s final resource reserves.
