Five College Jazz Festival offers something for everyone
Whether you are a fan of Benny Goodman or Radiohead, there will be something for you to enjoy and discover at the second Five College Jazz Festival, to be held March 26 and 27 at Amherst College’s Keefe Campus Center.
Eleven ensembles—including the Hampshire College Jazz Improvisation Orchestra—will cover a wide range of styles, from a cappella vocal jazz to improvisational orchestra to chamber jazz. Some 200 Five College students in nearly a dozen bands will come together to play over two days.
The Festival began in 2004 at Smith, and expanded to include bands from all Five College campuses at UMass in 2008.
The festival begins at 7 p.m. in the Friedmann Room of Amherst College’s Keefe Campus Center on Friday, March 26, and the continues from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 27. People are expected to come and go throughout both days at the Festival, which is free and open to the public. Parking is available for free throughout the campus.
