International Distribution for Professor's Film
Danish Broadcasting has just picked up Professor of Video, Film, and Media Studies
Joan Braderman’s film,
The Heretics, for international distribution.
The feature-length documentary, distributed in North America by Women Make Movies, explores second-wave feminism by following the feminist arts group, The Heresies Collective, as it creates and produces
Heresies: A Feminist Publication on Art and Politics. The magazine was published from 1977-1992.
The Heretics has been well received at film screenings and garnered critical acclaim in articles by
The New York Times,
The Village Voice, and
The Washington Post, among others. Braderman also worked with a couple of Hampshire students and alumni on the project, including cinematographer
Lily Henderson 02F and graphic artist
Molly McLeod 05F.
Braderman is an award-winning writer, director, and video artist.
