Two awards recognizing her work on behalf of reproductive rights and freedom have been presented to Marlene Gerber Fried.
Gerber Fried received the Reproductive Freedom Award on February 5 at “Roe v. Wade: Protecting Privacy, Preserving Choice.” The annual Amherst event benefits NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts, the Abortion Rights Fund of Western Massachusetts, and Tapestry Health. Congressman John Olver was presented the Legislative Reproductive Freedom Award.
The Jane Fund of Central Massachusetts presented Gerber Fried the Judith Fleming Henshaw Award in January. The annual award recognizes an individual as “a champion of reproductive rights.”
Currently serving as interim President of Hampshire College, Gerber Fried is a professor of philosophy and was director of the Civil Liberties and Public Policy program from 1986 to 2010. Her scholarship and teaching focus on reproductive rights and public policy.
