Hampshire College presents a multifaceted and whimsical dance concert with works by student and guest artists.
ROOMS, by internationally-renowned choreographer Anna Sokolow was the first modern dance presented on national television. Restaged with Five College dancers under the watchful eye of professor Paul Dennis, it leaves audiences enthralled.
Measured movement and emotion abound in trios by Nikko Koetsch 11F and Ailey Picasso-Hobin 10F, choreographers Ellen Oliver 12F and Madeleine Gowing 11F present inspired pieces based in poetry by Octavio Paz and the opera Orfeo, and viewers will be entranced by Sarazina Stein 10F’s quirky trio and spellbound by Amanda Major 11F’s choreography.
Katie Martin’s newest dance work for 12, more: portraits 1-3, amplifies the continual bleeding and erasure of fixed moments, reflecting an emerging resonance of seemingly disparate kinetic logics.
