Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship for Graduate Studies

Akiva Freidlin 01F has been awarded a prestigious Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship for Graduate Studies and will enter Columbia University’s writing program this fall. He plans to pursue a career in writing and journalism after completing his MFA in writing.

Colleges nominate students for this competitive scholarship, with recipients selected for outstanding academic achievement and promise, with consideration of demonstrated financial need.

Freidlin completed a Hampshire Division III entitled Pharoahs and Maccabees: Racism, Whiteness, and American Jewish Identity, working closely with history professor Aaron Berman, who is vice president of academic affairs and dean of faculty.
