Pulitzer Prize-winning graphic novelist Art Spiegelman read and signed books at Hampshire on October 24, 2008, in a special event that was co-hosted with the Odyssey Bookshop.
Best known for Maus and Maus II, Spiegelman began his career writing and illustrating underground comics in the 1960s and 1970s. Mainstream success came with the 1986 publication of Maus, a chronicle of his fatherís survival of the Holocaust. A former staff artist and writer at The New Yorker magazine, he also founded the avant-garde comics magazine RAW with his wife, New Yorker art editor Francoise Mouly. In addition to the Pulitzer, he has received a Guggenheim Fellowship and a nomination for the National Book Critics Circle Award.
