Author and activist Starhawk will speak at Hampshire College on Friday, March 8, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in Franklin Patterson Hall (East Lecture Hall). The lecture, “Earth Spirit, Earth Justice,” is open to the public and admission is free.
Starhawk will speak about the divide between humanity and the earth, how it relates to the divide between body and spirit, feminism, and power struggles.
Starhawk is a respected voice in modern earth-based spirituality. Well known as a global justice activist and organizer, she is the author or coauthor of 12 books, including The Spiral Dance: A Rebirth of the Ancient Religion of the Great Goddess and the ecotopian novel The Fifth Sacred Thing. Starhawk's newest book is The Empowerment Manual: A Guide for Collaborative Groups, published in November 2011.
