First-Year Student Tian Ni Takes Top Prize in Five College Film Festival

Things She Likes, a film by first-year Hampshire College student Tian Ni, won both the Best of Festival and Best Narrative prizes at the Five College Film Festival on February 25.

Ni made Things She Likes in her first film class at Hampshire, Feminist Film and Performance, taught by film/video professor Baba Hillman.

Things She Likes was also co-winner of the Best of Hampshire prize, sharing that honor with Dan Peck’s documentary For Michael.

Two other Hampshire students won awards at the Five College festival: Melmel Mooring’s I Look Up for Best Experimental and Jacob Mazonson’s Don't Push Me for Best Animation.

The jury for the film festival included 15 film faculty and students from all Five College schools. The winning films will be screened at Pleasant Street Theatre in Northampton in April, dates to be announced.
