Photographs of John Huggins 80F: A Retrospective

John Huggins
February 1–March 4, 2011
Liebling Center Gallery

Retrospective

A retrospective of the work of Los Angeles-based photographer John Huggins is showing in the Liebling Center Gallery from February 1 to March 4.

Huggins, who is a Hampshire College graduate, has consistently produced work that is conceptually and technologically exploratory, sensuously beautiful, and psychologically engaging for the past 25 years.

His photographs deal with a range of subjects, from roadkill and brushfires to surfers, skiers, oil tanks and flags, rendered in sublime and surprising ways. A subtle commentary on the American cultural landscape runs through his work.

This exhibition will feature representative works spanning from 1985 (when Huggins was a Hampshire student) to the present.

Gallery Hours

Liebling Center Gallery hours are Monday–Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday–Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m.

Huggins’ photographs are represented by the Craig Krull Gallery in Santa Monica, and the Sears Peyton Gallery in New York City.
