Masstransiscope
In 1980, future Hampshire film and photography professor Bill Brand installed an animated mural in the New York City subway system. Activated by the movement of the train, Masstransiscope became a classic, public work of art, but fell victim to time and graffiti. In 2008, Masstransiscope was restored and is again visible to commuters traveling from Brooklyn into Manhattan on the B and Q trains.
