Financial Aid for Students Currently Enrolled or on Leave

Current students must re-apply for financial aid each year by completing the FAFSA and Profile. International students do NOT re-apply for aid. Current students who previously did not apply for aid but now want to must also complete the Non-Custodial Parent Profile, if applicable. Detailed information about these requirements appears below.

Renewal application information and forms are available in January. We recommend that students apply for aid even if they anticipate taking a leave in the fall--that way the financial aid application is in order in the event they change their minds about enrollment--or to complete the spring application early so they don’t have to worry about it while on leave in the fall.

If you apply for the fall, your decision will be for the entire year. Students who are on leave or not on aid in the fall must meet the spring deadline.

Your complete application ensures consideration for all forms of financial aid available through Hampshire College including grants, loans, and employment opportunities. You must complete these forms even if you are interested only in work-study eligibility.

DEADLINES for continuing students and for students currently on leave

May 1  Full funding for academic year or fall only
May 2-August 15  Late applications accepted but full funding not available

December 1  Full funding for spring only
December 2-January 15  Late applications accepted but full funding not available

NOTE: Renewal applicants (continuing students) need to complete ITEMS 1 and 2 BELOW.

NOTE: Current students who have never applied for aid but now want to apply must complete ITEMS 1, 2, and 3.

It is important for students to use the same name and correct Social Security number on all application materials. The name used must match the name on the student's Social Security card.

Please do NOT send us copies of income tax returns. The financial aid office, however, may request full or partial tax return information from a small number of families to clarify information on the aid application. You will be contacted if we need a copy of a tax return. This request will also be listed on the Hub.
