If a snowstorm happens before classes begin or offices open, the associate director of facilities and grounds, in close coordination with the director of facilities and grounds, will decide about closing or delaying the opening of the College. This decision is based on weather forecasts and the condition of parking lots, paths, and roads on campus. If a decision is made to close or delay opening, this decision will be made by 6:30 a.m., and a message to that effect will be placed on the Hampshire College hotline at 413.559.5508; a critical announcement will be posted on the Hampshire College intranet; and a snow event posting will be the first news item on the Hampshire College internet homepage.

Dining services will continue to be open for meals during closed days.

If a snowstorm happens during the day, the associate director of facilities and grounds, in close coordination with the director of facilities and grounds, will decide about closing early, after consultation with the dean of faculty's, President’s, and student affairs' offices about the impact of the early closing on the academic program. If a decision is made to close early, the human resources office will communicate this to divisions and schools; a message will be placed on the hotline; a critical announcement will be posted on the Hampshire College intranet; and a snow event posting will be the first news item on the campus Internet homepage.
