Hampshire College

The office of the dean of enrollment and assessment is concerned with admissions, financial aid, and retention, as well as the evaluation and improvement of student learning. The offices of admissions and financial aid report to the dean, who also oversees the office of institutional research.

Steven Weisler is the dean of enrollment and assessment; he is also a professor of linguistics in the school of cognitive science. Dean Weisler’s career at Hampshire College began in 1982, and he has previously served as dean of cognitive science and dean of academic development at the College. In addition to his interests in assessment, retention, and other dimensions of enrollment, Dr. Weisler is interested in contemporary conceptions of liberal education and the relationship between liberal education and preparation for a life of work.
