Schedule of Events for 2014 Hampshire College Commencement


May Festivities for Graduates

Thursday, May 15  

Mandatory Graduate Informational Meeting
All graduating students are required to attend this informational session for commencement.
3:00-4:30 p.m. in Franklin Patterson Hall Main Lecture Hall

Roos-Rohde House Ribbon Cutting
Hampshire College will celebrate the completion of the Roos-Rohde House and honor Sig Roos 73F and Ruth Rohde 75S. This event marks the culmination of the Rehamping the Barn project, which involved repurposing material from a wooden horse barn previously located on the president’s property to create this space for students to gather, study, meet in groups, and socialize. Join the students of Mixed Nuts, Rehamping, and the Community Garden at the Roos-Rohde House for a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by live bluegrass from Max Wareham 09S and the Morning Bugle, refreshments, and dancing.
5–7 p.m., Adjacent to Cole Science Center

Div-Free Dance Party Celebration (hosted by alumni and family relations and the graduate gift program)
Come celebrate your alum status! Alumni and family relations invites you to a free dance party for all graduating students. Join classmates for tapas, drinks, and dancing until midnight. You are more than welcome to invite favorite faculty, staff, and even your parents to this event.
8:30 p.m.-Midnight in the Red Barn

Friday, May 16

Division III Presentation and Performance Showcase
Come enjoy a sampling of Division III projects presented by Hampshire's graduates. The showcase includes academic presentations, performances, film screenings, and readings. You may pick up a schedule in the Franklin Patterson Hall lobby beginning at noon on Friday, May 16.
1-4 p.m. in Various Locations

Community Commencement Reception
(Hosted by the offices of the President and Dean of Faculty)
Join the graduating students, their friends, and families in celebrating their commencement with light hors d'oeuvres, refreshments, and live music.
4-5 p.m. in the Longsworth Arts Village

Saturday, May 17

Commencement Ceremony
Please arrive early to ensure good seats. There are no tickets. Air-conditioned overflow seating is available in the Main Lecture Hall of Franklin Patterson Hall.
11 a.m.-1 p.m. on the Library Lawn

Celebratory Picnic Lunch
Join the 2014 graduates for a light lunch immediately following the ceremony.
1-3 p.m. in the Charles R. and Polly Longsworth Arts Village under the Solar Canopy

Diplomas Dispersed
1-3 p.m., Cole Science Center Foyer

Sunday, May 18
Student Residences Close
10 a.m.
