Second Annual Five College Queer Sexuality and Gender Conference
Saturday, March 5, 2011

Our second Five College Queer Sexuality and Gender Conference included over 40 workshops and keynote speaker Michele Tea. Participants came from the five colleges, from high schools and from far. It was a very successful event and we are looking forward to next year!
Get Involved
The student volunteers are essential to making the conference successful. Before
the conference, volunteers attend weekly meetings to give feedback and advice in
the planning stages. In the weeks leading up to the conference and during the
conference itself, students volunteer to design ads, poster campuses, put together
conference folders, set up the building, staff the check-in tables, assist workshop
leaders, direct crowds, clean up, etc. Additionally, volunteers facilitate the majority
of workshops. Student volunteers are involved in every step of the process.
If you would like to volunteer, join our listserv or email queerconf@hampshire.edu.
First Annual Queer Sexuality and Gender Conference 2010
The conference amassed an overwhelming amount of praise and support. Check it out:
“It was my first time at something like this. I am just overwhelmed with
information and happiness and also frustration at some things I learned and it was
great.”
“All the [workshops] I went to were seriously top notch.”
“I hope it does become annual! Great attendance for the 1st conference, much more
than I expected and attendance will likely only increase from here.”
Would you come again?:
“Yes”
“Yes!”
“Yes, absolutely”
“Helllll yeah, bb.”
“Fo’ sho’!”
“Duh!”
“The workshops were real good and there was a perfect balance of teaching from
facilitators as well as discussion and sharing of experiences (those are open
interchangeable)."
“The smaller groups were really comfortable and safe places to talk and even just
be present. I’ve never felt so much in that way and everyone was just so lovely and
beautiful.”
“I learned a lot, had a good time, and there was more diversity in attendance than I
would have expected to an extent.”
