ABOUT COMMUNITY COUNCIL
Community Council is Hampshire's equivalent of a student governance organization. It is, however, composed of faculty and staff as well as students.
Community Council’s duties include the following:
Community Council has three subcommittees that perform tasks specifically delegated to them. The financial committee (FiCom) deals with student group funding and finances; the committee on community development (COCD) renovates, augments, and organizes student spaces on campus, assists with the development of campus technologies affecting student life, and deals with campus health and safety concerns and policy implementation; and the committee on community activities (COCA) supports student-run events and organizes large campus events such as Halloween and Spring Jam.
Community Council meets weekly during governance time, 3:30-5:00 p.m., every Tuesday in the Community Council office. The office is located in the rear of the Airport Lounge on the main floor of the Johnson Library Center. All the council’s meetings are open to the community to attend. Meeting minutes are also available to the community through the council's Hampedia page.
The officers of Community Council (chair, vice-chair, and communications officer, and secretary) meet weekly in the council office to set the following week's agenda. You can meet with the officers to discuss concerns, or to add items to the agenda. Email the officers for the time and location of this meeting.
Community Council cares about student input. To share your concerns, ideas, thoughts, questions, and suggestions, complete our online feedback form.
