Factors Regarding Admission to James Baldwin Program
While the admission evaluation process is thorough and personalized, the factors that ordinarily most influence a candidate's probability of receiving an offer of admission are:

  • Evidence of a strong desire to learn
  • Quality of writing
  • Empathy and concern for others

Ultimately, the James Baldwin Committee is charged with making a determination as to whether a candidate is likely to benefit from a transitional year in preparation for a rigorous academic program.
