Campus Traditions

The Dean of Students Office strives to provide Hampshire with vibrant campus traditions. Our primary goal is to build community among Hampshire College students and to help students put their ideas into action. Every year, the Dean of Students Office provides support for annual events on campus ranging from Hampfest to Hampshire Halloween, Spring Jam to the Ingenuity Awards. Below, you can find info about each annual event.

Hampshire College Annual Events

Hampfest

Hampfest is Hampshire College's student activities fair, held at the beginning of each semester. It is an occasion for student groups to present themselves to the wider Hampshire community and to recruit and involve members of the community in their organizations. Experience all of our student groups and join as many as you'd like, while also exploring the variety of services offered by student life, academic programs, and various campus offices and departments. Hampfest provides a great opportunity to pick up information from and connect with organizers of our on-campus student groups as well as campus offices and departments.

All students are welcomed and encouraged to attend!

Hampshire Halloween

Hampshire Halloween is an annual collaborative community event which occurs on the Friday before Halloween. Activities have included campus wide trick or treating, costume contest, arts & crafts, open mic or dance, food trucks, haunted walk, and more. Hampshire Halloween ends with late night breakfast in the Dining Commons. The Dean of Students Office, Residence Life and Student Engagement, student groups, Student Life offices, and other departments across campus help to organize this event.

This includes but is not limited to: student group involvement, student governance, individuals who devote time to planning activities that enrich our community, and those who have demonstrated exemplary leadership through academic means and/or community service.
