Coppinger Endowment Grants
Description: This CS/NS grant supports independent student and faculty research, internship/assistantship, or student-faculty collaborative research, prioritizing student field studies out of the classroom and with close faculty/student collaboration. Priority will be given to research in the fields of animal behavior, wildlife biology, comparative cognition, evolution, ecology, or environmental science, but the program is not restricted to those research areas.
Award: $3,000 maximum
Purpose: Funds can be used for equipment, travel to field sites, housing (if not provided for internships/assistantship), transport, supplies, or other direct research expenses. The endowment does not support food expenses, faculty salary, or conference travel, although student travel to professional conferences can be supported if the student is presenting. Publication costs for student authored or co-authored papers may also be supported.

CS Research Fund
Description: Supports independent student research projects in the cognitive sciences.
Award: Around $500
Purpose: Equipment, travel to research or internship sites, housing, supplies, or other direct research expenses. In some cases, student travel to professional conferences can be supported if the student is presenting research findings.

Sander Thoenes Research Award
Description: Supports Division II and III projects in journalism; documentary photography, film, or video; international relations; globalization; peace-building; civil society; and human rights.
Award: $300-$1,000, the last $100 will be paid upon receipt of the final project report.
Purpose: Typically covers travel-related expenses, necessary materials, and sometimes equipment.

Earl Ubell Science Information Award
Description: Supports exceptional student work that seeks to make science, scientific methods, and scientific findings accessible to non-scientists and popular audiences. Awards are presented to students whose projects focus on science and public health reporting; documentary photography, film, and video; and fact-based projects that address aspects of science in general.
Award: $300-$800, the last $100 will be paid upon receipt of the final project report.
Purpose: Travel, housing, equipment, conference attendance, book, or periodical purchases.
