Effective January 1, 2013, benefit deductions for pretax benefits (health, dental, and vision insurance and flexible spending accounts) will be withheld from 24 pay dates per year versus the current deduction cycle of 26 times per year.
Staff employees who are paid biweekly will have benefit deductions withheld twice a month rather than every payroll period beginning January 1, 2013. Health, dental, and vision insurance deductions will not be taken from the third paycheck of the month; these pay dates will be considered benefit deduction holidays.
In 2014 the dates of this benefit deduction holiday will be May 30 and November 26. In 2015 the dates of this benefit deduction holiday will be May 29 and November 25. We are making this change to help streamline payroll and business office processes to agree with our monthly billing cycles.
