Ongoing surveillance has not revealed any cases of H1N1 (swine) flu at Hampshire College. With two “probable” cases identified at Amherst College, we have proceeded with precautionary measures at Hampshire, including preparation of isolation rooms. This is a precautionary measure only, and none of those rooms is occupied.

One student who had experienced flu-like symptoms reported to health services on Saturday, and was tested both on campus and at an area hospital. All influenza tests were negative, and the student is recuperating quickly from another minor illness.

If you are ill with fever and other symptoms of influenza A H1N1 such as a cough and sore throat,  call Health Services at ext. 5458; after 5 p.m. call 577.5000.
